Winter in March
This is the scene from the shop tonight. Pretty… but boring.
PS: Some kids were throwing snowballs into the windows. I went outside — partly to tell them to stop, partly to bring in my snow-covered bike — and they didn’t like what I had to say! Moreover, they didn’t believe that I owned the shop: “If you own this place, why do you ride a stupid bike?!” Humor is everywhere…
STICKY: Electoral map madness!
I can’t embed this, but you need to watch this if you’re interested in what Election Night is going to look like. NBC’s Chuck Todd and his fancy computer go through all the scenarios, with commentary and analysis by hosts and strategists on a wide-ranging ideological spectrum.
On, and there’s a decent chance the electoral college could tie at 269… do you know what happens then?
Exaggerating size
No, this is not an adult-oriented post. It’s just another look at how strangely dishonest the McCain campaign has become.
Listen, when Obama said “this is the moment when the earth begins to heal and the tides begin to recede” (something like that, anyway), I was aghast and made mention of it. But in the race to see who can tell the biggest whoppers, Camp McCain is winning in a landslide. The latest? Blatant exaggeration of crowd sizes. Rachel Maddow (avowed liberal but clever, funny and relatively fair commentator) reports:

Wasting time isn’t wasted time (Vol. 1)
Things I learned today:
1.) Pat Buchanan has a sense of humor:

2.) Oprah has decided to try strolling down the Maury route:
3.) Creepy music and decent editing make absolutely baseless conspiracy theories seem credible.

Obama as messiah? How about Ron Paul?
Found this a few minutes after I woke up today… Certainly something stirring about a few well-chosen quotes and some dramatic special effects!

Want TV?
Here it is. Share this with anyone b*tching about the writers’ strike. (This same kind of thing is why Radiohead is selling their music for pennies… it’s more pennies than the record companies gave them.)

My true calling
You all know I’m a top-notch post-rocker… a mediocre pool player (you may think YOU are also a mediocre pool player. But you aren’t.)… a political junkie, a Mac enthusiast and a wonderful dad.
What you may NOT know is that I’m also an amateur filmmaker. I present you, now, with “Hydration Nation,” a sort-of PSA on the virtues of keeping one’s self hydrated in these hot days.

ADDENDUM: Here is the first film I made in the 21st Century. It doesn’t go anywhere.

No Country for Old Men
Fargo. The Big Lebowski. Raising Arizona. O Brother. These are among my favorite movies of all time. What do they have in common? They were all written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.
Sadly, the brothers have really dropped the ball in the last few years… first by delivering the subpar romantic comedy “Intolerable Cruelty,” and following that up with the absolutely terrible remake of “The Ladykillers.”
Well, my faith was almost gone. But it’s starting to well up again, thanks to this:
